Making Money With Swag
How do you all get swag together. I know of a few performers who sell their swag after a show and can make some pretty good coin at it. Post cards, bumber stickers, T-shirts, hell I know one guy who even sells his own line of fake tattoos! What's the best way of putting together stuff like this? I know it requires a healthy investment to make all the merchandise, but once you make your money back, it's all profit. Any tips?

Re: Making Money With Swag
Hey Nips!
Man I love SWAG!!! We've got it all!! Shirts, Keychains, stickers, cards, autographed pics..... You name it. The best part of swag is, a lot of it you can actually make yourself and save some cash, bringing bigger profits. I know a few places that can set you up with GREAT quality bumper stickers, cheap! We make our keychains, I get our cards custom printed at Staples real cheap. Get creative.. Different venues bring different cash flow for swag. Some shows we don't bring ANYTHING to sell, knowing we won't sell much, others we know we'll make a killing at. TIP: Give away stuff! People LOVE free stuff. Toss out a couple shirts during your show like we do, or give away a bumper sticker to each person who helps you on stage. THEY LOVE IT! This can help bring more revenue at the end of the show. Subcontiously the crowd will SEE what you have and then you can pitch them what you've got at the end. Since they've SEEN what you got, they are more likely to go buy.
But BE CAREFUL. At most venues, especially clubs, you have to pitch it just right. Or all is lost. Club people are hard to ring. But if you can come up with a good pitch, reasonably price your stuff, make them feel like they NEED this souvenier, then you're all set...
If you'd like any more help, email me...
Later,
Ses

Ses, thanks.... that's excellent advice. Everybody out there get all that?
By the way, Doc... I think you are referring to the term "SCHWAG". I may be wrong.

Re: Making Money With Swag
Look into printing your own shirts. DIY=$$$
I print my own shirts for a dollar each. I sell them for up to 20. A good night can be worth around five hundred bucks.
If you act fast (I'm leaving my shop behind in April) I could print for you. I'll do it for cost plus fifty cents per shirt.
