homeopathics at work

Last night night was closing night for a run we've been doing with a local Burlesque troupe. This was the last of five shows we've done in the past two seeks and I had actually been really surprised I hadn't hit any real bleeders doing the pincushion act. I generally will have a pin that will bleed a little anywhere from just a drop or two to a small trickle. Well last night was going fine, everything felt normal going in even though I've been piercing into the muscle I haven't had any problems. Well I remove the first pin and blood instantly runs down my arm dripping onto the stage. I grab a gauze and put a little pressure on it which normally stops the bleeding right away but it won't stop and I still have two more pins to remove. So I quickly pull the other two pins out and they start bleeding just as bad. I hurry off stage and do a quick bandage job because I have to get back out to do my fire eating act. I finally get the bleeding to stop and realize my mistake. Across the street from the Theater is an excellent Italian restraint and the special was a shrimp dish with garlic butter, really heavy on the garlic, as well as minced garlic over that. Well I've never put a lot of faith in homeopthics but I know a bit about them and realize garlic is a natural blood thinner.

It was amazing to see such a dramatic change just from my choice of dinner. It just goes to show how many little factors are involved in what we do besides just knowing how to do the stunt.

Eeek.. that sounds messy!

Martin (the guy I work with) likes to bleed during the pincushion , I suspect he will be eating tons of garlic before every show once he reads this emoticon

David,
If he wants the same effect and less smell, an aspirin will work as well. So does White Willow Bark in a tea, though it is a bit bitter.

Sorry to hear it Crispyx...live and learn, eh?

I actually enjoy'd it. Once in a while you need a little mishap to remind the audience that this stuff is real. Just caught me off guard when it happened.

Hi Pele

Martin already uses aspirin, but I suspect he will now start using Garlic too.

As for the smell, well, he couldn't smell any worse anyway. emoticon

Umm... Obviously having a few drinks before the show is out! It would be nice though emoticon

As for the vegitarians thing. It might be true for some, but I have been a Vegan for 12 years and I don't bleed very easily at all. This has been noted by a couple of doctors and one body peircer. It might just be me though.

Cheers

If I recall right I belive aspirin comes or at one point came from Willow trees. But if he where to use the willow bark it's likely he'll get a stomach ack because that was the common side effect.

Aspirin is derrived from willow, to be sure.
The reason why I wrote WHITE Willow is because it is more gentle and does not cause stomach upset as readily as others. However, with any of these aggrivation for the stomach can occur.
